“A Mesa man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault Wednesday after he attacked his pregnant girlfriend, police said.
Giovani Valenzuela-Melgoza, 26, got angry when his girlfriend told him to take his things and leave their home in the 2800 block of South Extension Road, a court document shows.
The girlfriend locked herself in the bedroom, after which Valenzuela-Melgoza kicked the door down and began choking her, police said. The girlfriend’s brother, who lived with the couple, broke up the fight, the document adds.
Valenzuela-Melgoza had been arrested in the past for disorderly conduct and fighting, police said.”
